Personality:
Kate is a unique case. She is deeply rooted in the Klingon traditions, yet at same time, she is attached to a few terran traditions. Trained as a warrior since the age of ten, she is a warrior, but at the same time there is a human heart that often clashes with her Klingon training. Her honor is a majority Klingon, but it still keeps the human in with it. Despite the fact that there is still the human inside of her, she keeps up the facade of being Klingon to the core.
She's a quick thinker, although not much of one for conversation. When it comes to getting information, Kate can get it both from people and computers, although she lacks any other real computer skills. Kate is an excellent tracker, who can find anything without a map or compass, on a planet. However, on a ship, she is best off to draft a crewman to show her where to go.
Katelyn hasn't spent much time in the Federation since she was adopted at the age of ten, and hasn't gotten to know many human traditions except for the ones that she remembers. That being the case, she's not sure how to react around Starfleet personnel, and will either become quiet, or loud and aggressive.
Hobbies: Bat'leth training, outdoor exploring, hunting, physical training, brawling, hacking, cooking (That's a secret) and learning new things.
Fears: Pharmacophobia (Fear of modern medicine), and asthenophobia (Fear of being weak).
Dislikes: Romulans, Cardassians, Cardassian culture, formal dinners (Federation style), weakness, traitors, dishonor, ignorance, being looked down on for being short, people knowing what she's thinking, and foolishness.
Physical:
Kate Taylor fits her Klingon name mach vaj: the literal translation is small warrior. Standing at a mere 4'11", Kate is one of the shortest people you'll see wearing a KDF uniform. Despite her small stature, she's strong for her size, and she's not afraid of proving it. She is a rather attractive woman, with piercing blue eyes that seem to bore into your soul. There are no scars on her face, but there is a large scar that runs from her left shoulder blade to her right hip. Her hands are rough and callused from the years of fighting. She has an almost imperceptible limp, and her right knee that will occasionally give her grief.
In great Klingon tradition, Kate?s jinaq is always visible, though she has no interest in taking a mate at the moment.
Education:
Preparatory Warrior Training
Klingon Defence Force Warrior Academy
- Intelligence
- Covert Operations

History:
Katelyn I. Taylor was born to Sean and Kelly Taylor aboard the USS Andrew Jackson. The daughter of a Marine and a Fleet officer, the young girl grew up among the stars. Life was good until she reached the age of 7.
When Kate was ten, the Taylor?s were on their way to visit Sean's sister, Gloria, when pirates, near the outskirts of Klingon space attacked their transport. The transport crash landed on an uninhabited island. Katelyn and her father were the only ones to survive the initial landing, as far Kate is aware. Colonel Taylor forced his daughter to hide in the jungle while he looked for survivors. If her father found any survivors, Katelyn wouldn't know, as her father was slain by pirates searching through the wreckage.
A Klingon ship heard the distress call and came to investigate. The pirates had already left by the time the ship got there, but they found young Ms. Taylor, huddled near the wreckage, holding her father's phaser rifle. The HoD of the ship, Qulor HoD, one of the youngest commanding officer's in the KDF, admired the young girl's stamina and adopted her as his own. His mate was a Qel on a Klingon outpost, there with their two children. After Katelyn's injuries were treated, she was taken to Qulor's mate, B'EloQ.
The transition for Kate, now "mach vaj" was difficult, her adopted siblings were quite a bit larger than she was, and they picked on her mercilessly. It wasn't long before the human learned how to fight like a Klingon, act like a Klingon and be like a Klingon. Being so much smaller, she had to work twice as hard to keep up with the rest of the kids in Warrior school. With a zealous need to prove herself, Taylor forced all her efforts into schooling and training. By the time she was 13, no one in her class would pick on her, without suffering for their actions.
When she became an adult (I.E. went through puberty), her fortunes hadn't changed much. She entered the Warrior Academy on Qro'nos. Taylor was known as a loner, the warrior who did not associate with any other warriors, but focused solely on proving herself worthy.
During her third year at the Warrior Academy, Kate had the Klingon version of the cadet cruise. She was placed on IKS yuch taj, a Bird of Prey class vessel. While she was serving there, Kate MangHom(Cadet) was in a rather brutal fight with a pirate borders. Kate was able to kill several during the scuffle, but was badly sliced on the back by one. The Qel was able to stitch her back up, but her she was pretty sore for a month. Bad luck seemed to stay with her on that ship. A few weeks after the pirate incident, the small BOP was caught in a virulent ion storm, one of the consoles exploded and pushed Kate forward, burning her back badly. But her left foot got caught on a deck plate and while the rest of her was moving forward, her knee was cracking with the forward momentum.
That called her field assignment to an end as she was shipped back to WA Medical. For two months, Kate was rehabilitated on how to use her knee. During her time at Medical, her paternal Aunt found her, and sent a short message to her. Taylor was shocked at the message and hid it away, fearful of being forced back into a culture she could barely remember.
When she turned 19, shortly before graduating the Warrior Academy, her parents took her aside. They explained that she was an excellent warrior, and an honorable one, but it would be best if she went back to her own people. Reluctantly, she applied for Starfleet Academy, majoring in Intelligence.
*For simplicity?s sake, Taylor will be referred to by her human name throughout the bio.
Romans 8:24-25
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
